Build Your Own Multimedia Website Workshop
CuriousWorks is hosting a workshop at our Randle St Warehouse for people to learn how to put together their own website. The workshop takes place on Saturday, 20 September 2008 and will go from 12pm - 4pm. Get the details after the jump…In those 4 hours participants will learn:
- Foundations of HTML
- Different free services to host your own website
- Publishing content on your site using FTP
- How to create/setup a podcast
- How to edit simple videos for the web
- Creating audio/video players for your website
- Using social media tools like Flickr, YouTube and Facebook as your own personal IT department.
If you’re an artist, musician, filmmaker, hobbyist, accountant, student or circus performer and you have a web project that you’re trying to get off the ground but don’t know where to start this is the perfect day for you. The workshop is limited to 10 places and there will be 2 tutors taking you through all the trickery and magic of the interwebs. Peter Cossey and Elias Nohra will be the tutors for the day and apart from being part of the CuriousWorks team they’ve also been teachers at UNSW and COFA so you’ll be in good hands.

Peter and Elias, your tutors for the day
CuriousWorks is using the workshop day as a fundraiser for our community projects and the cost of the workshop is $250. The cool part is that the ticket price will actually be a tax-deductable donation to CuriousWorks (which is a registered charity), yay for the tax office! Everyone is a winner, participants get a hands-on web intensive, CuriousWorks gets to fund further community work and Peter and Elias spend a Saturday doing something constructive instead of playing video games.
Participants should bring their own laptops (if you don’t have one we’ll try to find you a computer to use), and also bring any files and content for the web project they want to work on. If you don’t have a project to work on you can still attend the workshop, we’ll come up with a project for you.
To reserve your place at the workshop email workshops@curiousworks.com.au and use the subject “Reserve My Ticket Please”. We’ll email you some payment details and Bob will be your uncle for the day.
