Migrant Project Film Screening at Randle St

On Saturday night CuriousWorks held its first event at its new warehouse: a test screening of This City is a Body, The Migrant Project film.

Beginning in 2005, The Migrant Project was CuriousWorks first initiative and involved over 40 Sydneysiders with cultural and artistic roots from across the globe. You can explore the project’s past performances and forums at The Migrant Project website.

Last Saturday night was about the project’s future. With the live component of the project now over, we hope to get this film out to festivals and this was a test screening with all the crew. It went really well, with a beautiful atmosphere settling onto the warehouse as the film began, and very positive reviews during the drinks and conversation afterward.

All agreed that the work was an unusual and provocative investigation into our city (Sydney) and what makes it tick.

A larger digital work, encompassing the full breadth of The Migrant Project, will be available as an interactive DVD, alongside the traditional-format film in the last quarter of the year. Called Suitcase for a Sydneysider, this box set will showcase the highlights of CuriousWorks beginning years as an organisation. Watch this space!

Shoes outside (I was brought up like this) - check out Joel’s fancy gold boots!
