Liverpool - Refill Workshop 8

Our last Refill workshop for a few months, and its safe to say that everybody had a ball. Even Peter “Grumpy-Pants” Cossey! Shakthi led some theatre games while Peter began helping the kids sign up to AllAroundYou.net, a space where they can upload all the media they’ve been making, provide feedback and collaborate or compete with each other in cyberspace.

As well as allowing us to share our work and the kids to share their’s, connections will also be made with young people in different communities around Australia. Everyone had a fun time signing up and creating their profiles, and we can’t wait to see how they interact with the site.

While the sign-ups were going on, Shakthi and I split up to run some exercises. Shakthi ran a group filming a response to the “Ball Game” video from back in Workshop 2, while I stayed in the classroom and elaborated on the previous week’s introduction to stop motion animation. The kids got very creative, animating toys in some complex configurations while mastering the black art of stop motion.

It was sad for us all to say goodbye at the end of the lesson, but we can’t wait to re-connect with the kids later in the year!
